Wildlife Photographer of the year exhibit is open until March 20th. I am planning this event to take place on Tuesday March 8th. If there is inclement weather, it will be rescheduled for March 10th or March 11th.
Entrance cost is $24 for adults, $20.50 for seniors. After speaking with someone at the ROM, it appears that weekdays are best and most of the school groups have left by 1:30 pm. The school groups are not likely interested in the Wildlife Photographer of the year exhibit. So we could start with the Wildlife Photographer of the Year and then split up to tour the sections of the Museum that interest each of us. I was told that we can take photos in the museum as long as we don't use flash.
There are free tours of the rest of the museum led by trained volunteer Docents. Each tour is approximately 45 minutes long. Tour capacity is limited. The tours are different each day. Here is a sample. 11:00 am – Museum Highlights 12:00 pm – Rome and the Roman Empire 1:00 pm – ¡Viva México! Clothing and Culture 2:00 pm – Museum Highlights 3:00 pm – Ancient Greece 11:00 am – Museum Highlights 12:00 pm – China 1:00 pm – East Asia Gallery 2:00 pm – Museum Highlights 3:00 pm – Ancient Egypt. The March tours are not posted yet.
It will take approximately 3 hours to get to Toronto. Meet at Bright's Grove Shoppers Drug Mart at 8:00 am. Arrive at the ROM at 11:00 am after a stop at Tim's on the highway. There is a cafeteria at the ROM. Sandwiches, salads, burgers, pizza are available. A full lunch will cost approximately $15 to $20. There is a brown bag lunch area on Level B1 by the School Group Entrance. When we arrive, we will ask one of the Representatives to direct us to the brown bag lunch area upon arrival. I recommend bringing your lunch or picking it up at Tim's on the way to Toronto.
Driving and parking costs will be significant so we should car pool to have the best value.
The ROM closes at 4:30 pm on weekdays. I recommend that we have dinner in Toronto and then drive home after rush hour. I noticed a place called Cibo Wine Bar that is 5 minutes walk from the ROM. The menu is mostly Italian food and looks reasonable priced. If anyone has other suggestions, please comment on this page or send me a private message. I expect to leave Toronto by 7:00 pm and arrive back in Sarnia at approximately 10:00 pm.
